Ukraine entered the top three largest importers of Turkish tomatoes
In 2019, Ukraine bought about $ 30 million of Turkish tomatoes and entered the top three leaders of tomato importers from Turkey.
This was reported by the analytical platform for the growth of the fruit and vegetable business East-fruit.
"The top 3 importers of Turkish tomatoes along with the Russian Federation also included Romania (procurement volume over $ 36 million) and Ukraine (about $ 30 million)," the statement said.
It is noted that today 56 countries of the world purchase tomatoes in Turkey.
East-fruit informs that in general, according to the report of the Association of Exporters of Southeast Anatolia (GAIB), "tomato" exports brought agricultural producers more than $ 304 million (in the previous year it was almost 292 million).
Market experts note that Turkey is a traditional supplier of greenhouse vegetables to the Ukrainian market in the winter, as well as a leader in the supply of cucumbers and tomatoes in Ukraine: Turkish suppliers account for up to 80% of all imports of these vegetables to the Ukrainian market.
In addition, Turkish tomato producers intend to increase exports, including through access to new markets, for example, to China.
