Export of Ukrainian pharmaceutical products becomes a priority in trade with Uzbekistan

Export of Ukrainian pharmaceutical products becomes a priority in trade with Uzbekistan, said First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv.

"One of the priorities of trade with Uzbekistan is just the pharmaceutical industry," he said during the opening ceremony of a new tablet production site of PJSC Farmak in Kiev on Thursday.

At the same time S.Kubiv said that Ukraine and Uzbekistan managed to resolve the disagreements that emerged recently in trade relations.

"Yesterday we resolved all differences that could lead to a narrowing of our economic relations with Uzbekistan," he said.

In turn, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Ukraine Alisher Abdualiev noted the high quality and efficiency of Ukrainian pharmaceutical products, which are in high demand in Uzbekistan.

Yesterday, we discussed issues of further development of bilateral relations with Stepan Ivanovich (Kubiv - IF). There are sometimes unresolved issues in trade, but we understand each other, he said.

According to the head of the supervisory board of PJSC "Farmak", Fili Zhebrovskaya, this pharmaceutical company annually exports $ 20 million worth of products to Uzbekistan.

As reported, a number of Ukrainian pharmaceutical exporting companies declared blocking the export of Ukrainian pharmaceutical products to Uzbekistan in connection with the anti-subsidy investigation regarding the import to Ukraine of new passenger cars originating from Uzbekistan. On December 3, the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade (ICIT) decided to terminate this investigation.

Uzbekistan provides the Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies operating in it with an annual sales market of $ 49-50 million. In particular, Farmak, Arterium, and Yuriy Farm are exporting their products to Uzbekistan. At the same time, Ukrainian pharmaceutical products on the territory of Uzbekistan are exempt from VAT.

In addition, seven special pharmaceutical zones have been established in Uzbekistan in six regions of the republic, which will enjoy benefits and preferences.

PJSC "Farmak", one of the three leaders of the pharmaceutical industry in Ukraine, announced plans to invest $ 10 million in the construction of a pharmaceutical plant in Uzbekistan. The project provides for localization of production in the Republic of Uzbekistan with the launch of production in bulk and a gradual transition to full-cycle production.

Currently, Farmak occupies the 4th place in sales in the pharmaceutical market of Uzbekistan, the portfolio of products sold in this country has 120 items.

PJSC "Farmak" is a member of the association "Manufacturers of Drugs of Ukraine" (APLU).
